Soulrift Team Compositions
Roles for public lobbies and stacked friend groups — not eight Luminas.
A Soulrift lobby can hold up to eight players in the boss instance. That is enough to cover every role twice — or enough to stack eight identical DPS kits and still lose. This page turns the tier list into party jobs. Read Players for unlock paths and beat bosses for why Dash still matters after you “have a comp.”
The three jobs that must exist
Keep people standing. Reviva (heal + revive, 250 Souls) or Clockwork (acceleration, immunity, movement). If neither is present, someone should swap before you raise boss difficulty. Two Revivas is better than zero.
Melee pressure. Zephyr, Sunder, Nyx, Scar, or Raiden in close. Bosses that sit still want burn (Scar) or Blood dumps (Nyx). Bosses that move want Zephyr’s faster slashes or Raiden’s hook. Shop roster and quest roster.
Ranged coverage. Cross, Ricochet, Lumina, Crystal’s long tools, Raiden’s ranged buttons. Someone has to hit the boss when melee is forced out by a ground effect. Cross is free and enough for early ticks. Starters.
Everything else is luxury: extra Clockwork, a second Sunder, a Lumina who actually lives through cooldowns.
Starter stacks (hour one)
2–4 Zephyr/Cross, plus whoever you can beg to buy Reviva. Do not wait for Raiden. Getting started and Souls and XP fund the healer. Accessories filled (accessories) so the Cross players can kite.
Standard clear (mid account)
1 Clockwork, 1 Reviva, 2 melee (Sunder + Scar or Zephyr), 2 ranged (Cross/Ricochet/Crystal), 1 flex (Nyx or Raiden), 1 extra support or extra melee. If you only have five friends, drop flex first, never drop both supports.
Burst / greed comp
Lumina + Sunder + Scar + Nyx looks pretty on the tier list and dies to the first group-wide slam if Clockwork’s immunity window is late. Use this only after you can call the slam. Controls.
Public-server survival comp
You cannot draft. Play Reviva or Cross yourself. Chat “need Clockwork or Reviva” once, then play. If the lobby is four Luminas, leave and requeue rather than “hoping.” Shuffle Mode (shuffle) is even less draftable — bring a self-sufficient kit.
Quest nights
Awakening, A Tundra Menace, Greater Heights, and Burning Soul are group projects. Assign who is on the quest character and who is on babysit duty. Quests and unlock characters. Do not take all four quest characters into the same undergeared lobby.
What comps do not fix
- Empty accessory slots.
- Difficulty two ticks too high.
- Scripts. Auto-kill with a required teammate (auto boss) is not a composition.
- Missing Dash. Eight supports will still wipe if nobody dodges.
VIP (gamepasses) speeds the Souls that buy the shop half of a comp. It does not replace Clockwork. Codes still do not exist (codes hub).
When a twelfth character ships, add them to one of the three jobs rather than creating a fourth mythical role. Check patch notes.
Duo and trio notes
Two players: Reviva plus Zephyr or Cross. Three players: add Clockwork or Sunder, never a second Lumina. Duos cannot cover every job in an eight-slot instance, so pick self-peel kits and refuse high ticks. If your duo partner only wants Raiden, you are the healer whether you like it or not. Trio with three ranged and no Dash callers is still a wipe comp. Voice is optional; calling the slam in chat is not.
If chat is dead, assume no support and play like a duo even in a full instance. Pick Cross or Reviva. The composition page cannot draft for silent lobbies. Leave after one wipe if four people already stacked Lumina. Your time is the scarce reagent, not their ego.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Soulrift players.
What is the minimum viable Soulrift team?
One support (Reviva or Clockwork), one melee, one ranged. See the tier list for who fills each job.
Can eight DPS work?
On the lowest difficulty, sometimes. It falls apart as soon as a telegraph needs a revive. Read beat bosses.
Should everyone buy Raiden?
No. 4000 Souls is last. Use the unlock planner.
Does Shuffle Mode need different comps?
Same roles, more flexibility. Shuffle Mode.
