Soulrift Sunder Character Guide

Sunder is the second shop character in Soulrift, priced at 1000 Souls, with 125 HP — the highest base HP in the game. He is the dedicated close-range damage dealer. The kit is built around getting in, dealing high burst, and using bulk to survive the engage window. Role: melee DPS and primary damage source in standard party compositions.

Kit overview

Sunder’s identity is the highest raw HP pool and burst damage potential. His Z/X/C abilities favor close-range positioning where most characters cannot survive the full rotation. The kit rewards aggressive play but punishes mistimed engages — 125 HP is not infinite.

Key stat: 125 base HP. This is 15 more than the next highest (Zephyr and Raiden at 110) and 45 more than the lowest (Reviva and Nyx at 80).

Strengths

  • Highest HP pool in the game. Can survive engages that would one-shot supports.
  • Close-range burst is among the highest in the roster.
  • Melee range means consistent M1 uptime once in range.
  • Body Armor accessory from Lazereth makes him even harder to kill without adding damage.

Weaknesses

  • Requires close-range positioning — vulnerable to kite and projectile bosses (Sunix, Lazereth).
  • No inherent mobility skill in the published kit verbs.
  • Prosthetic Arm (−50% HP) is a joke on Sunder at low ticks; only use after confirming the lobby is comfortable.

First slot: Magic Mirror from Katan. Second slot: Badge of Vanguard (+10% melee damage). Third slot: Body Armor from Lazereth (+12% DR) — his HP pool makes DR very efficient. Fourth slot: Flame Gauntlet from Ardale (33% burn on hit) or Radiator from Acidux. Fifth slot: Metal Helm or Shock Slower from Cryogen.

Team comp role

Sunder is the primary damage dealer in standard 4-2-2 comps (four damage, two supports). Pair with Reviva or Clockwork for sustain. Do not replace a support slot with a second Sunder — the lobby needs healing and immunity more than a second spike.

In team comps: Sunder goes in the damage column alongside Zephyr, Cross, and Lumina.

Unlock order

Sunder at 1000 Souls is the second shop purchase after Reviva at 250 Souls. If your public groups keep dying, buy Reviva first. If groups live and the boss will not die, save toward Sunder. Do not skip both to farm toward Raiden at 4000 — the 1000-Soul gap is a real power spike, not a consolation prize.

What Sunder is not

Sunder is not a tank. 125 HP with no dedicated defensive skill in the kit means he dies like any other character if you stand in mechanics. He is a damage dealer with survivability, not a wall. Do not use him as an excuse to ignore Acidux acid floors or Cryogen icicle spreads.

Scripts that force aggro are documented on scripts with ban warnings.

Comparison to other melee

  • Zephyr (110 HP, starter) — more mobile, less bulk. Zephyr is the default melee until you buy Sunder.
  • Raiden (110 HP, 4000 Souls) — similar HP with grappling mobility. Raiden is a much later unlock and more versatile.
  • Nyx (80 HP, quest) — glass dagger melee with Blood mechanic. Nyx and Sunder play completely differently despite both being melee.
